Grand Prairie Full Gospel Holy Temple Church History

Grand Prairie Full Gospel Holy Temple was established October 28, 1989 under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Malena and his wife Evang. Sarah Malena. Our first service began Saturday October 28, 1989 in a small community center. On our first service night, there were only a few of us. We would sing and testify, sing and testify trying to make the service last for a while. We understood what Evang. Shirley meant when she said they song so much until their tongue palates fell. We song so much that we stay hoarse for a while. Each night before service we would have to go in and clean up the place, because people come in at night and party with beer bottles, cigarette butts, drug papers and trash left all over the place, but we did not allow that to hinder us, after we cleaned up the devil's mess God would always come in and bless. Souls were saved and added to the church.

The choir was established with only four members. While in the community center we were unable to have choir rehearsal there so it was held at the member's homes.

The Lord really moved in the community center. Our first Watch Meet service (December 31, 1989) was held at the community center and we started about 8:00 PM, (thinking we could last the whole four hours), but we went as long as we could go. After we had song and song and everyone testified and Word of God was preached we still have plenty of time left, so we began to clean up the church to make it to 12:00.

Not long afterward the following year 1990, our pastor located a building, 1916 Sherman St., which was in much need of renovating. We all worked together to get the place in shape and when the renovation was completed, we worshipped and praised God there for over 13 years and the power of God moved in that place, souls were saved and added to the church. We were blessed to move to our now location at 307 S. W. 14th St. Grand Prairie, TX, November 2002 were the Lord is still present in full bloom and the power of God is evident when you walk through the doors.

Grand Prairie Full Gospel Holy Temple has several ministries in operation which consist of but not limited to: the Sunday School Department, the Usher Board, Media Ministry, Street Ministry, Tract Ministry, Witnessing Ministry, the Music Department and the Transportation Ministry.
